GJA receives sponsorship from three institutions

Accra, Aug. 11, GNA - Three institutions on Wednesday presented packages to the National Executive Committee of Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) towards the 15th GJA awards in Accra.

They are Barclays Bank, Trassacco Estates and Stanbic Bank.

Mr Benjamin Dabra, Managing Director of Barclays Bank, Ghana presented a cheque for GH¢2,500 for the Best Radio Feature.

Mr James Frimpong, Director of Corporate and Business Development of Trasacco, presented a cheque for GH¢2,500 to sponsor Parliamentary Reporting Award.

He noted that Parliament was an important arm of governance and people should be abreast with proceedings in the House.

"The basis of every country's development is infrastructure", Mr Frimpong added.

He said the rationale behind the sponsorship was that Ghana had chosen the democratic path for development, and assured the GJA that management would be involved in more media interactions.

Mr Mawuko .K. Afadzinu, Head of Marketing and Public Relations of Stanbic Bank, presented a cheque for GH¢5,000 in support of Sport, Peace Building and Development Awards.

He said Stanbic management had decided to institute another award for the Best Agriculture Reporting next year.

Mr Affail Monney, Vice President of GJA, receiving the cheques said this year's awards held an extraordinary promise of being one of the best to be organized.
