The newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Kofi Adu Domfeh, has paid a courtesy call on OTEC 102.9 FM, marking his first visit to a media house since his swearing-in.
The visit, which took place on Thursday, September 11, 2025, forms part of the chairman’s efforts to collaborate with journalists and media firms to make the GJA more attractive in the region.
During the visit, Domfeh emphasized the importance of providing journalists operating outside Kumasi with access to GJA trainings and opportunities.
“Together with the team, our vision for the GJA in the Ashanti Region includes capacity-building initiatives such as regular training workshops in investigative journalism, digital reporting, and fact-checking. These initiatives aim to enhance the skills of journalists and promote professional excellence in the region,” he said.
In an interview with OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng, Domfeh stressed that a strong and vibrant media is crucial for driving development and promoting good governance.
“Society deserves better journalists who will work to improve the overall development and wellbeing of the people, and that is what we, as GJA in the region, seek to achieve,” he stated.
He pledged to work closely with media stakeholders to uplift journalism standards and create opportunities for journalists to thrive in an increasingly competitive media landscape.
Background of Kofi Adu Domfeh
Kofi Adu Domfeh, a Senior News Editor at the Multimedia Group, was elected as the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the GJA after a rerun election held on August 22, 2025.
He secured 20 votes, defeating his opponent, Georgina Ama Ankomah, who garnered 11 votes.
Domfeh’s election has been widely welcomed by media practitioners and stakeholders, who are hopeful about the future direction of the GJA under his leadership.
