Ing. Kenneth Ashigbey, a member of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the convener of the Ghana Coalition against Galamsey, has endorsed incumbent GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour in advance of the association's 2025 elections.

Ing. Ashigbey strongly endorsed Mr. Dwumfour's leadership, calling his first term a "transformative era of press freedom."

Although he admitted to having some reservations during Mr. Dwumfour's first presidential campaign, he said that his staunch support of journalists' freedom had won him his "deep admiration."

“I wholeheartedly endorse Albert, whose tireless advocacy for journalists’ rights has ushered in a transformative era of press freedom,” Ing. Ashigbey said in a social media post.

“As a journalist, I urge you to cast your vote for Albert, a beacon of hope and a champion of our fundamental rights.”

The GJA Elections Committee has approved 42 eligible candidates to run for a number of national and regional offices on June 28, including Mr. Dwumfour, who is running for reelection.

During his term, he has engaged with important media sector stakeholders and advocated for better working conditions for journalists.
