GIJ Students Force Registrar To Vacate Post

Students of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), on Monday April 26 forced the Registrar of the Institute, Mr. Kweku Amponsah, to vacate his office. The students led by a 3rd year degree student, Mr. Henry Nii Dottey, said their action is based on some derogatory statements made by the Registrar on a sister radio station last Thursday April 22, purporting to describe the Diploma Certificate of the Institute as worthless.

He said, the maladministration of the Institute saw a final year student, passing out of the school, when she had failed a subject, contrary to regulations of the school.

According to Mr. Dottey, the Registrar had to cover it by making derogatory remarks. The student contended that if the certificate awarded by the Institute with the signature of the Registrar is worthless, then the Registrar cannot preside over the Institute.

In an interview with the President of the students Representative Council, Mr. Richard Mensah, he described the Registrar?s statement as most unfortunate.
