Two additional suspects accused of what has become famously known as GH¢280 million NPA scandal allegedly masterminded by the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) CEO, Dr Mustapha Abdul‑Hamid, have met their bail conditions.
The two, namely, Wendy Newman and Isaac Mensah, have been released on bail on Thursday, July 24, 2025, after they successfully met all the bail conditions.
However, four others linked to the high-profile extortion and money-laundering scandal who have yet to meet their bail conditions are still in custody.
It will be recalled that Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid who is alleged to be the mastermind of the scandal as the former NPA boss, was the first to meet all the bail conditions.
He was accordingly released on bail while his other co-accused persons were caged following their inability to meet the terms of their individual bail conditions.
The OSP has alleged that a whopping GH¢280 was allegedly extorted from petroleum transporters and oil-marketing companies between 2022 and 2024 by Dr Hamid, Amuah (Coordinator of the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund) and Newman.
The Office of the OSP alleged that Dr. Abdul-Hamid, along with others, extorted GH¢280 million from petroleum transporters and oil-marketing companies between 2022 and 2024, using shell companies to conceal the illicit proceeds.
