The Ghana Education Service (GES) has warned holders of Bachelor of Education certificates who are teaching in senior high schools in the country to cease or face sanctions.
According to the GES, information gathered as well as its checks have revealed some teachers with Bachelor of Education certificate as their highest qualification “ have managed to have their ways into second cycle institutions as subject teachers”.
This, it explained, is against the Education Act of 2008 and GES stipulated minimum qualification requirement for those with the basic teaching certificate to be teaching in senior high schools.
It has thus asked those teachers to as a matter of urgency, liaise with their respective district directors of Education for reposting to the basic schools before the start of the next academic year in September.
Meanwhile, the various regional and district directors of education as well as heads of all senior high schools to notify all teachers and assist those who fall within the category.
