The Ghana Education Service (GES) is considering options of adding other subjects to the national quiz competition.
The move is to ensure that other students do not feel neglected in their subject of study.

Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr, the spokesperson for the Ghana Education Service, Rev. Jonathan Betteh said, “We thinking seriously about it, to make sure that other subjects come on board.”

“Very soon you will realise that other areas or other subjects will also come on board to motivate people not to see their areas of specialisation as a weak one but a laudable one,” he added.

He called for support from organizations to come on board to support the initiative.
“Everything new has it challenges, we need to sit down as stakeholders not only the Ghana Education Service, other stakeholders and benevolent organizations to support when we bring this thing to bear,” Rev Betteh noted.

He called for more sponsorships for the students taking part in the quiz.
“If these people can be taken outside the country, as a way of motivating them, camping them at a particular place, asking our specialist and professors to take them through and also to handle them in special way so that all that they study would not be in vain,” he added.

Prempeh College won the 2017 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz by beating St. Thomas Aquinas with a two-point difference.
