GES disciplinary committee inaugurated in Kumasi

Kumasi, May 6, GNA - A nine-member Ashanti Regional disciplinary committee of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been inaugurated with a call on the members to ensure fairness in the application of the rules. Mr Joseph Kingsley Onyinah, Regional Director of Education, said their decisions would always come under scrutiny, to determine the extent to which these conform to the rule of law and democratic principles. The Committee, chaired by Mrs Elizabeth Naana Abudu, Asante-Akim North Municipal Director of Education, has the responsibility of dealing with any infraction of the GES code of ethics.

Mr Onyinah said to carry out the mandate effectively it was important the members became familiar with labour relations and laws, to enable them demonstrated a better understanding of it. He acknowledged the challenge faced by employers, administrators, supervisors and quasi-judicial bodies, who were called daily to make decisions that affected employees under them. The Regional Director asked that the committee worked as a team with the common goal of promoting quality education delivery. Mrs Abudu thanked the GES for the confidence and pledged that they would live up to expectation.
