GES calls for end to moral decadence

The Ghana Evangelical Society has called for an end to what it termed Ghana’s “spiritual and cultural malady,” including corruption, greed, politicization and polarization, and the resultant weakening of state institutions.

According to the society, “God has revealed the establishment of His throne in Ghana and God has chosen the country to become a beacon to Africa and the rest of the world.”

This call followed the society’s announcement of a divine decree by God that "there should be the observance of national week of repentance from corruption, and evil ways by the Church, politicians and all Ghanaians."

Reverend Professor Enoch Immanuel Amanor Agbozo, Founder of the Ghana Evangelical Society, at a press conference in Accra said the Lord had revealed that politicians and the Church were responsible for the spiritual and cultural malady in Ghana.

He said: “Ghana’s greatest plague is the politicization, corruption, diversion and therefore the pollution and weakening of national and state institutions.”

According to him, national and state institutions, such as the security services, state corporations and commissions, were therefore subjected to “swings in politics and governments by politicians.

“In short, the greatest challenge the nation faces today is the lack of righteous, honest, committed and loyal politicians in particular, and citizens in general, who love the country, people and nation and who are trustworthy,” he said.

Rev Prof Agbozo also noted that the lust for power, position and money had now made it hard for the political parties that were largely responsible for polarisation of the country, to maintain order, solidarity and cohesion even in their own camps.

He said it was imperative for Ghana to be "healed and delivered" from the current situation, and appealed to the Council of State, and civil society groups to “stand firm against the tide of politicization, power, position and money politics, and re-order their affairs” for good governance and prosperity.
