GES alleys fears on plight of SSS students

The Ghanaian Times reports that the Ghana Education Service (GES) has dispelled fears that the Senior Secondary School (SSS) students in their second year will have to wait for three years before entering the university.

A statement issued in Accra on Monday and signed by Mr. Alex Tettey-Enyo, Director -General of the service, stated that SSS examination would be held in June 2001, 2002 and 2003 during the transition from January-December to September-August academic year with effect from 2001. "By the end of the August each year, the results will be realized. Those who qualify will definitely be eligible for admission into the tertiary institutions the same year, unless the Universities and other tertiary institutions are unable to offer them admission.

It says adequate arrangement have been made in Senior Secondary Schools since 1998 to ensure that students were well prepared for the exams during the transitional period.
