Accra, Jan. 14, GNA - Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), on Friday, donated five wheelchairs to five families at a short ceremony in Accra. The families applied for the wheel chairs through the GBC, after they had heard that the corporations intends donating the chairs to needy people= .. An NGO, Mission Africa Incorporated made available the wheel chairs, which were presented as part of the Corporation's 75th anniversary celebration.
The recipients included Mr J.K Badu from Sekyere Odumasi SDA church, M= s S Abibata from Damango and Mr Joseph Abban Williams from Tarkwa, who specifically requested for an additional step down transformer for his personal use, which was bought for him The others are Mr Alexander Osei Nyarko from the Armed Forces Central band, Burma camp and Patience Donkor from Kade.
The head of publication at GBC Mr Mensah Nyarko, who presented the wheelchairs to the beneficiaries, called on persons with disabilities who needed wheel chairs to apply for them through their regional representative= s or through the Director General of GBC, Accra for consideration. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the NGO and the GBC for showing care, love and concern for the disabled in society and called on other institution to emulate the corporation=91s initiative.
GBC had already donated 10 wheel chairs to the Koforidua government hospital, as part of its activities marking the 75 anniversary of the corporation.
