GBA President calls for special courts to deal with business and other issues.

The President of the Ghana Bar Association, Mr. Sam Okudzeto has stressed the need for special courts to deal with commerce, land and other cases, this is because the courts are so congested that even lawyers and clients often times have no where to sit. Mr. Okudzeto was speaking at the Speaker of Parliament's Breakfast Meeting in Accra yesterday. Mr. Okudzeto said investors hesitate to come to Ghana with a judicial system that delays judgement stressing that such a system helps breed corruption. Mr. Peter Ala Adjetey, former president of the Bar Association noted that law reports to guide judges in giving judgement and other jurisprudence are virtually non existent, forcing judges to rely on English authorities which are often outdated. Mr. Ala Adjetey agreed with Mrs. Joyce Bamford Addo a justice of the Supreme Court that something needed to be done about the negative perception by the public of judges.
