Fund support for children of August 6 tragedy hits GH¢8.6m, $20,000

The Children’s Support Fund established to cater for the welfare of children who lost their parents in the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash, has so far received GH¢8,600,905.00 and US$20,000.00 in donations.

The update, released on Friday, October 17, 2025 and signed by Dr Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, detailed the latest contributions made between September 23 and October 12.

“The latest update, covering the period between September 23 and October 12, 2025, lists contributions from ten donors, including public institutions, private companies, and individuals”, the statement said.

The new donors are the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Kow Eduakwa Sam, BOST Energies, Bui Power Authority, Energy Commission, Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company Limited, Israel Quarme Arye, Timothy Addai Adivilah Balagkutu, Agencies under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and Augustus Obuadum Tanoh.

The management of the fund expressed gratitude to all contributors for their continued support and urged the public to keep donating to ensure the long-term care and education of the affected children.

Donations can be made through Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited (Stanbic Heights Branch, Accra) using the following accounts:
• Ghana Cedi (GHS): 9040013628372
• US Dollar (USD): 9040013628534

Cheques and bank drafts should be made payable to Children Support Fund 6825, while Mobile Money (MoMo) payments can be made via the approved payment platforms provided by the Fund.

The fund was set up following the tragic helicopter crash on August 6, which claimed the lives of eight individuals, including Cabinet ministers.
