A 36-year-old Fulani only identified as Gado has been nabbed by the Salaga District police command in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region for rustling 57 cows belonging to four persons.

The suspect, who admitted stealing the animals on different operations he launched in his caution statement, was arrested during the late hours of Sunday December 11, 2016 in his bid to meet a blind date in Tamale.

According to the police, the supposed lady was used as a bait to get him arrested and therefore kept communicating with him on phone.

In an interview with Christopher Amoako a journalist in Salaga, one of the victims who had 5 of his cows stolen, said they suspected Gado and had to devise a strategy to have him arrested.

According to him, on the early hours of Sunday, suspect Gado called the lady that he was in Tamale and that the lady should meet him. The lady then called one of the victims who rushed to Tamale in the company of the police leading to his arrest.

He was subsequently transferred to Salaga and has since admitted to committing the crime and is pleading for an out of court settlement.

Police have disclosed that he will be arraigned before court later this week but have appealed to residents who have fallen victim to his activities to report to the police.
