Fulani herdsman killed at Akukua over sexual advances

One person has been killed and two injured in clashes between Fulani herdsmen and some residents of Akukua in the Atebubu- Amanteng District in the Brong Ahafo region when a Fulani Herdsman made sexual advances towards a Konkomba woman.

Police confirmed that the violence began at about 12noon in Akukua before spreading to Amantin about three hours later when the Konkombas mounted roadblocks.

Atebubu Amanteng Municipal police Commander Superintendent Edward Konyer confirming the incident to Ghanaweb said calm has returned to the two communities.

“The Fulani man wanted to have sex with the woman after he tried to help her to carry her water from a pond in Akukua. He made sexual advances towards the woman which she resisted, he slashed her head when she resisted.

Superintendent Konyer said upon hearing the incident he with his men rushed to Akukua where they came across roadblocks mounted by the Konkombas looking for the Fulanis.

He said they were able to calm nerves at barriers but some of them sneaked to the outskirts of the town in pursuit of the woman’s attacker, pounced on him and lynched him.

“The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Asante Mampong Hospital waiting autopsy. The rest are receiving treatment at Mampong and St. Luke Hospital at Kasei,” Superintendent Konyer revealed.
