French Embassy assists Mankrong Junction with toilet facility

Agona Mankrong (C/R), Aug. 31, GNA - French Embassy has released an initial amount of GH¢19,600.00 to the Agona East Assembly towards the construction of a 16-seater toilet facility at Agona Mankrong Junction.

Mr Philip Kudzor, Co-ordinator of Sankofa Franco Ghana Association, made this known at a forum in Agona Mankrong. The forum was under the theme 93Sanitation in Mankrong Junction before Sankofa intervention, what are your views". He said the estimated cost for the project is GH¢50,000.00. Mr Kudzor said the Agona East Assembly would provide GH¢15,250.00 with the Sankofa Association contributing GH¢4,500.00, while the community provided land and communal labour towards the project. He said the location of the project at Mankrong Junction was based on the outcome of a sanitation survey conducted by the Assembly in collaboration with the NGO.

Mr Kudzor said on completion of the project, other communities in the District would also benefit and help improve sanitation in the area.

Mr Enoch Otabil, liaison officer of the Association, took participants of the forum through basic hygiene and sanitation practices.

He appealed to them to avoid littering their surroundings and stop the indiscriminate defecation in the area. Nana Donkor II, acting Tufuhene of the area, thanked the Association and the French Embassy for coming to the aid of the people.
