Freelance Writer nabbed over stolen phones

The Legon Police have arrested a 26 year old self-styled freelance writer for bolting with two Iphones valued GHC6,000.00.

Reiner Plahar is said to have posed as a buyer of the two mobile phone on TONATON.Com, and after interacting with the victim (name withheld) asked her to meet him at the University of Professional Studies (UPS) Campus on November 28, this year.

Briefing the media, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Fleisher Ackon, the Legon District Crime Officer said Plahar alleged that he noticed an advert placed on TONATON.com by the victim.

According to ASP Ackon, Plahar expressed interest in purchasing the two Iphones and lured the victim to meet him at UPSA Campus.

During negotiations, Plahar took the two phones and hurriedly sat in a car with registration GN 1161 -14 and sped off.

Plahar left a lady whom he had offered lift to at the scene and she was arrested on suspicion that she was Plahar’s accomplice and a report was made.

The said lady was however granted police enquiry bail.

However on December 11, this year, the victim whiles on her way to work, spotted Plahar and she alerted the Police Patrol Team and he was nabbed.

ASP Ackon expressed concern about the rate at which people were abusing the internet market, adding that both operators and patrons should be security conscious.
