Free SHS is not the remedy to all national problems - Jinapor

Former Deputy Power Minister, John Jinapor, has cautioned government to stop deceiving Ghanaians.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme on Friday, John Jinapor recounted some lapses in the 2018 budget presentation by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta before Parliament.

According to Mr. Jinapor, the government seems to have decided to give a false imprint about the state of the economy, claiming that the 2018 budget failed to capture certain vital issues affecting the Ghanaian citizenry.

Talking to sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh, the former Minister recounted that currently petrol and gas prices have hiked up to astronomical levels and discouraging drivers in the country.

He wondered how the Akufo-Addo administration, after promising Ghanaians his government would reduce fuel prices drastically when voted into power, would today superintend over high prices in petroleum products.

He also noted that the President and his government inherited a booming oil and gas sector and so should be able to improve the economy, but the situation is different as the government has failed the nation.

John Jinapor therefore wants the government to deliver on its promises and stop their political antics, saying that free SHS is not the solution to all problems facing Ghanaians.
