MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana Limited, the leader in laboratory medicine in Ghana on Friday 26th July, 2019 screened over 400 residents of Tema as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to mark this year’s World Hepatitis Day.
Over the years, MDS-Lancet has contributed immensely to the fight against the disease in Ghana. The annual campaign for raising awareness by MDS-Lancet started in 2008 and has since screened over 10,000 Ghanaians across the country in collaboration Okyeame Kwame Foundation.
Mr. Enoch Boateng, one of the Laboratory Managers at MDS-Lancet said “Hepatitis B disease is a public health concern due to its high prevalence rate. Historically, our annual screenings have recorded between 10%-15% prevalence rate.
The Company is committed to continuing its awareness campaign as long as needed. He reiterated that, MDS-Lancet was the first to establish a commercial ISO accredited Molecular Biology (PCR) Lab in Ghana which provides the diagnostic capacity to get the public tested as well as assist Clinicians to manage positive Hep B cases”
