Francisca Oteng-Mensah, the 22-year-old parliamentary candidate for Kwabre East has met the flagbearer of the New Patriotic party Nana Akufo-Addo after her victory in the Saturday polls.

Oteng-Mensah and her father paid a surprise visit to the former attorney general Tuesday.

Oteng-Mensah beat Frempong who had been in Parliament since 2004. She polled 331 votes, as against 189 by the incumbent. The other candidates Osei Poku, a lawyer, got 202 and K. Adjei- Sefa had 33 votes.

Some believe she is too young to be in politics while others feel she lured the delegates with money to vote for her.

But her father, Dr Kwaku Oteng, has told Accra-based Oman FM his daughter began showing interest in politics at age 10.

“She is an intelligent young lady and can lead,” the owner of the Kumasi-based Angel Group of Companies argued. “The delegates genuinely liked her and her message was able to win it.”
