Four students write WASSCE under police escort

Four students out of the 419 who registered for this year’s West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) at the Saint Augustine’s College in Cape Coast, wrote their first paper under police escort on the commencement of the examination.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Joseph Connel, who spoke to the GNA in an interview in Cape Coast on Monday, said the four students were on suspension as at the time of the commencement of the examination.

Mr Connel said, the students were supposed to report from home to write the exam and that to avoid any disruption from the student body, the school decided to allow them write under police escort.

The assistant headmaster Mr. Henry Arthur Gyan said out of the number of students who registered, 417 were present to take the exam whilst the remaining two who had travelled outside the country were still not back to participate in the exam.**
