Four robbers nabbed

The Accra Regional police have apprehended four persons believed to have specialized in breaking into homes of people living in residential areas and stealing household appliances valued at thousands of Ghana cedis.

They are Prince Opoku aka Kofi Agyenkwa , a 24- year-old musician; Baba Seidu, 22, also a musician; Godwin Ameka aka Kobbie , 32, driver and Amanor , 23, a trader.

Three other traders believed to be receivers of the stolen items were also apprehended and they include, Kwaku Amoak Ibrahim aka Kanjaga, 26; Charles Benefo, 37 and Kwame Korankye, 22.

Items retrieved from them included six flat screen television sets, 35 laptops, an Ipad and four mobile telephones.

The seven (including the receivers) are now in the custody of the police assisting in investigations.

Briefing the media, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Accra Regional Police Commander, said the police recently received a series of reports from residents living in and around Baatsona, Spintex, Teshie-Nungua, Coastal Estate, Adenta Commandos, Ashaley Botchwey, Ashaiman and Tema, about incidents of theft.

DCOP Yohuno asserted that on August 9, 2015, at about 1pm, the Kaneshie police patrol team sighted Prince and Baba selling the aforementioned items to Kwaku Amoak Ibrahim and apprehended them.

During interrogation, it came to light that the items were stolen goods.

The suspects then confessed and led the police to ten of the residents whose items were stolen.

They also led the police to apprehend the other accomplices from their various hideouts.

While in custody, the four suspects then confessed and told the police how they managed to enter the homes of their victims to rob them.

They have been charged for theft and would be sent to court soon.
