Founding member of NDC asks party activists to remain calm

Kumasi, June 1, GNA - Mr Anthony Osei-Nsenkyire, a founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asked the youthful supporters and members of the party to use laid down structures to seek redress to their grievances.

He said resorting to threats of violence to register their displeasure could wreck the party's chances of retaining power in 2012. Mr Osei- Nsenkyire, 78, made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Monday.

He condemned recent agitations for the dismissal of some District Chief Executives by the party's youth.

He also spoke against their illegal take over of toll booths, toilet facilities and offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme. Mr Osei-Nsenkyire urged the NDC leadership to regularly educate and sensitise the youth on the party's ideologies and mission statement. He suggested the need for the youth to be assisted to operate within the confines of the party's constitution to enhance its image and appeal. 1 June 10
