The first ever stakeholders’ forum on the guidelines for the installation of Communication Towers and Masts (SFCT & M) would begin Thursday aimed at building on successful development guidelines, regulations as well as set rules for full compliance and enforcement.
The forum would encourage ideas between government, regulators and the private sector players to gain critical input and analyze specific considerations in achieving the policy goal of sustainable and competitive communications development.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Ms Abigail Gunn, Consumer and Corporate Affairs Division of NCA and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday in Accra.
The forum would bring on board an industry technical committee spearheaded by the National Communications Authority (NCA), an inter-ministerial committee comprising the Ministries of Communication, Environment Science and Technology, and the Local Government and Rural Development.
It said the Committee was formed to collaborate in the development, adoption and management put in place to regulate the construction and installation of Masts and Towers in the country.
The statement said presentations would be made by representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) as well as personnel from the Town and Country Planning Development (TCPD).
Also to make presentations are the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, Infrastructural development companies and the Telecommunications industry.
Mr Totobi Quakye, Board Chairman of the NCA will head the forum and would be addressed by the Communications Minister.
