Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on Ghanaians to support one another to fight for the development of the nation.

John Agyekum Kufuor in an address after the first Kufuor Health Walk called on the youth to put aside their religious and political difference and join forces to build the nation.

He said “I want us to feel for each other as fellow beings, we should have fellow feeling among ourselves, we are not talking politics, and in any case even if we are talking politics, politics should be about serving people and making life easy better for each and every one of us. Forget about tribe, gender, and religion the central value for us to work for is common humanity. If we do that we are okay.”

The former president also expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for coming out in their number to support the John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation.

“The John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation is spreading all over. I’m happy that today I see all of you here joining forces with the foundation to pursue the course of bettering life for people,” he said

He also urged the youth to seek more knowledge in every field they find themselves to be able to fit in the society since the world is moving faster.

The JAK Foundation was established in 2009 to promote and sustain the development of Ghana and Africa.

As part of the effort to sustain the foundation, an endowment fund was launched to run foundation’s programmes.

The Endowment fund dubbed “80 for 80” campaign”, which seeks to raise GH¢80 million cedis ($15 million) was launched earlier this year.

The foundation will provide the Kufuor Scholars Programme, Kufuor Young Entrepreneurs Network, Annual Lecture Series on Governance and Development, the Kufuor Elections Observers Group, and the Kufuor Prize for Best Community Leadership.

The health walk was organised by the foundation as part of activities to raise the fund.

Politicians, celebrities and many others came out in their numbers to support the JAK foundation walk which started from the Aviation Social Centre to Shiashie and back to the centre where participants were taken through a few exercise routines.
