The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has claimed that some former government officials accused of misappropriating state funds are quietly returning the money to the state through the Attorney General’s Office.
Speaking during his “Thank You” tour in a video shared by UTV on September 19, 2025, Asiedu Nketiah revealed that President John Dramani Mahama’s newly established anti-corruption initiative, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), is beginning to yield results.
“When we came, we said that anybody who takes government money will vomit it, and it has already begun through ORAL. We will make sure anybody who has taken government money will return it,” he stated.

He further alleged, “After paying, we will think about the kind of punishment we will give them because if not for ORAL, they would have enjoyed the money freely.”
Meanwhile, President Mahama has explained that the purpose of ORAL is to gather information on corruption scandals and forward them to the appropriate state institutions for further investigation.
He emphasised that ORAL is neither a witch-hunting committee nor an investigative body.
“We are receiving a lot of information about corruption scandals some by text, others by calls and some through intermediaries. We want a focal point where all that evidence is directed.
"The committee will assemble the evidence and pass it on to the appropriate institutions,” Mahama said.
