Former Hearts of Oak managing director rallies support for new coach Grant

Former Hearts of Oak managing director Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe says new coach Kim Grant will need the "full support" of the fans to succeed.

Ex-Ghana international Grant was on Thursday unveiled as the Phobians new director of football and first team head coach, signing a three-year contract.

He is the first man to be handed the combined role by the Accra-based side.

"I just read the press release from our club announcing the appointment of Kim Grant as our Director of Football and Head/First Team Coach," Armstrong-Mortagbe said, as reported by FootballGhana.

"After the period of waiting, I believe that supporters of Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak are enthused by this announcement.

"Discussion platforms of Phobians have seen passionate conversations about this subject and it is great to see this appointment.

"No coach can succeed without the active support of the supporters of our club.

"It is in this regard that I urge us all to throw our full support behind Kim Grant as he prepares to take up the reins of technical director of our club."

Grant has been tasked with restoring the Phobian glory, which includes winning the Ghana Premier League, a trophy the club last won in 2009.

He is also expected to lead the Accra-based side to continental success, their last titles in the Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup coming in 2000 and 2004 respectively.
