Former Ghana’s Ambassador to Angola appointed NDC National Vice Chairman

Former Ghana’s Ambassador to Angola, Moses Bukari Mabgengba has been appointed as National Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Mabengba who is also a former Northern Regional Minister under the erstwhile John Evans Atta Mills administration, was appointed alongside Hon. Kofi Attor and sworn into office at the NDC Headquarters on Tuesday.


Their appointment according to the party, was in the new Guidelines developed by the party for the appointment and election of national officers, which provides that the positions of National Vice Chairpersons must have three elected officers and two appointed officers.

Profile of Moses Mabengba

He was born on 11th March, 1956 (63years) at Savelugu in the Northern Region and had his primary education at the Saboba Primary and Middle Boarding School (1962-1972) where he obtained the Middle School Leaving Certificate.

He proceeded to E.P. Training College, Bimbilla (1974-1978) where he obtained his Teachers’ Cert A and Distinction in Teaching Practice.

Mr, Mabengba has his advanced Teacher Training College in Winneba, 1981-1984 , Diploma in Mathematics and Mathematics Tutor; Tamale Training College, 1984-1988.

He was the PNDC District Secretary of Saboba-Chereponi, 1988-1993 and MP for Saboba, 1993-2001.

The former lawmaker later attended the University of Education (Distance Education), 1998-2001; B.Ed (First Class Honours in Mathematics) became the Budget & Statistics Officer, GES Headquarters between 2001and 2003.

He later proceeded to University of Leeds, UK, 2003-2004 where he obtained a Master of Arts with Merit (Mathematics Education) before moving back to Ghana to continue his work at GES Headquarters.

In 2005 he became a Mathematics Lecturer at University of Education between 2005 and 2014 but took 5 years Leave of Absence to become Minister of State (2009-2014) and later Ghana’s Ambassador to Angola and Gabon (2014-2017)
