Former Ghana U20 captain Lawrence Lartey is eyeing a move to Europe from South African Club Ajax Cape Town.

The defender hopes to make an impression in order to secure himself a deal in Europe.

Lartey has made eight appearances for Ajax Cape Town in the ABSA Premier League this season.

“I just want to help the team perform better than last season. I believe that if I have one good season I will be able to secure a move to Europe,” Lartey told his club's website.

“I am just like any other ambitious player who would like to see themselves playing abroad.”

The Ghana youth international is impressed with the team’s progress under new manager Stanley Menzo.

“Sadly, we did not finish in the top eight last season, so that we could defend the [MTN8] Cup this season,” Lartey said.

“But personally, I have been able to adapt and things are now looking good for us under coach Menzo. He’s pushing us so that we can produce our best performances. I think we are on the right track under the new coach.”

The 22-year-old joined the South African outfit from Ghanaian Premier League side Ashanti Gold two seasons ago.
