Forget about Akufo-Addo and… - Asabee tells NPP

A former minister of state under the Kufuor regime has stridently warned the New Patriotic Party to put aside issues surrounding Nana Addo’s presidential ambition, and fish out strategies to get someone who can win them more votes.

Mr. Asamoah Boateng, in an interview on OKAY FM stated that the NPP should not focus on the most popular candidate within the party but rather, a person who can sweep votes from outside the party during elections.

He argues that electing a person who is only popular within the party would attract votes from their core members and not the floating voter.

He further explains that it would be tactful for the party to make good use of their time within this period; considering the unrewarding days they spent in court battling for power.

The focus now, according to him, should be on strengthening the party from the polling station level. Asamoah Boateng noted that if the party has any money to spend on a ‘Thank You Tour’, they should abandon it and invest it into persons who watch over elections at the polling station level.

Despite the 2012 elections aftermath wrangling which the party believe the Electoral Commission played a vital role, Mr. Asamoah Boateng urged his party to forget about the past and honour the invitation to sit with the Commission and other parties to establish new electoral reforms.
