Foreigners are not eligible to register- GIS

Ho, Feb. 23, GNA- Mr Robert Quartey, Volta Regional Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has urged personnel of the Service to prevent foreigners from crossing into the country to register during the national Registration exercise.

Addressing an end-of-year get-together of the staff at Ho at the weekend, Mr Quartey said as personnel of a security organisation at the country's frontiers, they were obliged to discharge their duties well during the registration and the elections this year. He said the integrity of the Service would be tested during the two national assignments.

Mr Quartey observed that alien herdsmen in the country have their local collaborators, which was making it difficult for the Service to control their influx into the country.

He however said the Service would do its best to prevent them from the exercise.
