Businessman and 2016 presidential candidate of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addai Odike believes the youth in the country are itching for change which may have informed the reason plans were in the offing to stage a coup d’etat.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Odike bemoaned the level of hardship in the country adding that the youth in such instances may be forced to take up arms in order to change the system to their advantage.

“The youth need change. They have no sense of belonging and the culture of impunity is soaring. Why won’t people plot coup?” He queried.

According to him, the promises made by the Akufo-Addo led administration does not correspond with what is being delivered, adding that they feel disillusioned in the current government over a litany of unfulfilled promises.

“There has been one too many promises to the Ghanaian people pending fulfillment. People are fed up, corruption scandals all over the counter. People are hungry and desperate. I think there’s more in the offing”, he warned.

Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm owner of Cidatel Hospital Hospital and his two accomplices – Mr. Ezor Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Mr. Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) are currently in the custody of the BNI over the alleged plot.

Many have given varying interpretations to the claim by government taking into account the type of weapons that have been retrieved from the suspects during last Friday’s raid by the security agencies.
