The Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has claimed that LGBTQ+ rights were never formally included in international legal frameworks but were instead introduced into national laws through interpretation and external influence.

Speaking at the 4th Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family, Sovereignty and Values on Thursday, June 4, 2026, Foh-Amoaning argued that references to LGBTQ+ rights under international law were misleading.

“My point is LGBTQ rights have never been part of the international legal framework. They were implied and they were forced into our laws,” he stated.

According to him, African lawmakers should not feel compelled to support LGBTQ+ rights out of fear of violating international legal obligations.

“I want this conference not be fooled by anybody and say okay we’re afraid because we’re going to be fighting or conflicting with some international law framework,” he said.

Foh-Amoaning also rejected arguments linking LGBTQ+ issues to constitutional, sexual and human rights protections, describing such claims as false.

“So, when you hear them talking about human rights, sexual rights, constitutional rights, it’s all false,” he said.

He further accused LGBTQ advocacy groups of pursuing a deliberate agenda and using deceptive narratives to advance their objectives.

“This is an agenda-seeking set of people who are clear on what they want and their hallmark is deception and that’s what I want to expose,” he said.

The conference brought together parliamentarians, policymakers and advocates from different countries to deliberate on issues concerning family values, sovereignty and social policy.
