Fmr NPP MP urges calm and tolerance

Dr Owusu Achaw Duah, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso-South, has appealed for tolerance and calm in the New Patriotic Party.

All genuine members and supporters of the party, he said, must accept to work together to overcome petty and needless distractions in order to focus their efforts on connecting with the people - to win political power in 2016.

Making the call through the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi, Dr Duah said the interest of the party should be put ahead of individual political ambition.

He said there is no time to waste and the party would not have any excuse to disappoint Ghanaians in next year’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

He urged those contesting the NPP’s parliamentary primary elections to ensure a clean, decent and healthy campaign, free from personal attacks and the temptation to run down other people.

Dr Duah said the NPP is engaged in an internal election, hence the need for candidates to be mindful of their pronouncements, to prevent controversy, cracks and division.

He pledged to give every necessary support to whoever is elected by delegates in the Offinso-South Constituency as parliamentary candidate.

Eight people, including the incumbent Member of Parliament, Ben Abdallah Banda, are vying for the party’s parliamentary ticket for the area.
