Agona Swedru, July 4, GNA - The Government has terminated constructional work on five roads in the Agona West Municipality due to poor performance and delay by contractors engaged on them. The roads are in Agona Swedru, Nyakrom, Agona Otsenkorang, Bobikuma and Bobikuma-Nyakrom.

Mr John K. Asamoah, Agona West Municipal Feeder Roads Engineer, made this known when he addressed the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Agona Swedru.

Mr Asamoah noted that the contractors have removed all their equipment from various project sites, which indicated that they had abandoned the contracts. He said the projects had been repackaged and rewarded to new and competent contractors for construction. Mr Asamoah appealed to the Assembly to provide for him an office at Agona Swedru to enable him work effectively and satisfactory, adding that he is currently staying outside the district due to the lack of an office accommodation. Dr Nii Adjei Adjetey, Agona West Municipal Director of Health Services briefed the assembly about the preparations being made by the Health Directorate to distribute a total of 75,000 free treated mosquitos' nets to household in the Municipality.

He said the Directorate had currently taken delivery of 110 bales of Mosquito nets out of the figure from Central Regional Health Stores in Cape Coast to begin the distribution exercise. Dr Adjetey said about 200 health volunteers have been recruited for the exercise and appealed to the assembly members and chiefs to cooperate to ensure it success.
