Five dead bodies have been retrieved from the Korle Lagoon in Accra in an exercise to desilt drains to allow free flow of water.

The company tasked to clear the drains, Dredge Masters in an interview with Starr News expressed frustration over the continuous choking of gutters in Accra by dwellers.

The company is now pushing for a buffer zone of 30meters to be put up along all major drains to ward off encroachers.

Senior officials of dredge masters who conducted journalists round the various drains said the bodies were recovered between December 2015 and January 2017 this year.

It is, however, not clear what led to the death of the five people.

Starr News’ Daniel Lartey stated that according to Dredge Masters a dead body is found almost every three months during dredging.
