An altercation stemming from a trade dispute in Apesika, Afram Plains North, has resulted in the brutal assault of one fisherman by another.

The incident involves Akli, the suspect and Ibrana, the victim, both local fishermen.

According to Ibrana, the dispute originated from an agreement in which Akli had provided him with half a cup of gari in exchange for a fish intended for Akli’s sister.

Two weeks later, Akli, accompanied by his accomplice, Torgbe, confronted Ibrana to inquire about the outstanding fish.

Ibrana reportedly cited ill health as his reason for the delay, an excuse that Akli and Torgbe rejected.

Osofoba Enoch, providing an account of the incident on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, stated that after refusing to accept Ibrana’s excuse, Akli and Torgbe, together with Akli’s mother and sister, allegedly initiated a physical attack.

The confrontation escalated into a vicious brawl.

During the struggle, Ibrana was reportedly knocked down but managed to fight back.

It was during this process that Akli allegedly seized Ibrana’s mouth, bit off a portion of his lip, and swallowed it.

When asked immediately afterward what he had done with the severed tissue, the suspect is reported to have replied, “I have chewed and swallowed it.”

Ibrana was immediately transported to the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Akli and Torgbe have since been arrested and are currently assisting the police with their investigation.

However, Akli’s sister is currently on the run and is being sought by law enforcement.
