The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Joe Osei Owusu has made a cash donation of GHc5000 to support activities of the Bekwai Youth Development Club (BYDC).

The cash donation is a seed token to raise funds to support the Club’s adoption of the Children’s Ward of the Bekwai Government Hospital.

Hon. Owusu, who is also the Member of Parliament for the area, made the presentation during the Club’s recent End of Year “Get -Together” in Bekwai.

In a brief statement, Hon Osei -Wusu said the youth plays critical role in the existence and growth of every community.

“The youth is the heartbeat of every modern community of which Bekwai is no exception. This donation is to help the progress and advancement in all aspects of life in this community,” he stated.

The Bekwai Youth Club was launched in 2016 to help promote unity and undertake developmental projects to support government’s endeavors. It also seeks to promote interests and welfare of the youth in the Bekwai community. Prior to its inception the club has engaged in a number of activites including Drug Abuse Campaign, Reading Club, Tree Planting etc.

The BYDC hopes to improve the lives of the community through developmental initiatives in the areas of education, health, and social well-being.
