Fire has gutted parts of the Kwapong Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region.
Firefighters from the Kukuom and Goaso Fire Stations successfully brought the blaze under control after hours of intense firefighting on the morning of Friday, October 31, 2025.
According to a press release dated October 31, 2025, the Ghana National Fire Service received a distress call at 7:12 AM.

The Kukuom crew arrived at 7:30 AM, while reinforcement from the Goaso Municipal Fire Station joined shortly after. The joint team managed to contain the fire at 8:45 AM and completely extinguished it by 10:26 AM.
"Preliminary investigations have shown that the fire started in one of the rooms on the first floor of a one-storey dormitory block and spread to six other rooms on the same floor.
"The fire destroyed the roof, ceiling, personal belongings, books, beds, and bedding of some of the students," the statement said.
Two fire extinguishers on the affected floor also exploded during the incident.

Firefighters, however, prevented the flames from spreading to the ground floor of the building, and no casualties were recorded.
The statement said that investigations are ongoing to determine the actual cause of the fire.
