Fire Service launches manhunt after firefighter stabbed during Adjiringano incident

Two firefighters sustained injuries while responding to a fire that engulfed a two-storey, eight-room building at Adjiringano near Ability Square on Friday night, November 14, 2025.

The GNFS confirmed that two firefighters were injured in the line of duty. One suffered a stab wound to the left arm, while the other was hit on the left shoulder by a falling block. Both were treated and discharged from Unity Clinic in Madina.

In a Facebook post on November 15, 2025, the GNFS announced a special reward for anyone who provides information to help apprehend the suspect and urged the public to call 0291702096.

“We have a special reward for anyone who helps us find the person who stabbed our firefighter and absconded during firefighting at Adjiringano last night”, it stated.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said it received the distress call at 9:32 p.m, prompting the Legon Fire Station to deploy the first crew, which arrived at 10:03 p.m.

Additional teams from Madina, Adenta and the National Headquarters later joined the operation, supported by a private water tanker as the blaze intensified.

Firefighters battled the flames for several hours, bringing the fire under control at 12:16 a.m. and fully extinguishing it at 1:08 a.m. Seven out of eight rooms on the top floor were completely destroyed.

However, the crew managed to salvage one room, the entire ground floor and nearby structures.

Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
