Fathers must take active part in raising children

Mr. Enoch Kojo Appiah, the Shama District Chief Executive, has appealed to fathers to take active part in raising their children to ensure their holistic development.

He said often times mothers were over-burdened in the training of their children with some fathers abandoning their responsibilities.

Mr Appiah said this when he presented musical instruments to the Inchaban Methodist Junior High School. He said the training and character-molding of children must not be left in the hands of mothers alone.

On the Basic Education Certificate Examinations, the DCE said the Shama District was making gradual strides as the area recorded 72 percent in 2013, as against 57 per cent last year, and lauded the Takoradi International Company and the Lower Pra Rural Bank for their support in that regard.

Mr. Appiah appealed to care givers and stakeholders in education to give off their best, since education was the best legacy for the future of children and appealed to them to use the musical instruments to promote, unearth and develop new talents.

Ms. Hannah Darko, headteacher of the Methodist School, thanked the District for its support for the school.
