Farmers Form Association

Jei-Krodua (Central Region), 20 Oct. More than 2,000 farmers in Central and Eastern Regions have formed a Food Crops Producers and Processors Association (FCPPA) to enhance their economic activities. The new association has Mr Jones Brown as its national president with Madam Comfort Hulordzi as national organizer. Mr Brown told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Jei- Krodua, near Awutu-Bawjiase, that the association has branches at Nsawam, Adeiso, Obam, Akim-Osenase, Asamankese, Kasoa, Jei-Krodua, Afajator and Bontrase. The association aims at mobilising and educating farmers on modern farming methods to help them increase their annual production targets and also secure a better and sustainable market price for their produce. He said the leadership of the association will soon embark on an intensive education on environmental protection, family planning, tree planting, sanitation and savings in all its branches. Addressing members of Afajator and Kasoa branches of at separate meetings last Thursday, Mr Brown and Madam Hulordzi advised them to cultivate the culture of saving to enable the members to qualify for financial assistance from the banks and other financial institutions..
