Farmer rapes six-year-old girl

Nkawie (Ash), April 7, GNA - The Nkawie Circuit Court presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah, has sentenced Kofi Diamono, a 60-year-old farmer, to 10 years' imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a six-year-old girl at Esaase-Bontefufuo in the Amansie West District in Ashanti. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Police Chief Inspector H.A. Agyare, prosecuting, told the court that on November 28, last year, the girl, accompanied by her two sisters went to the Diamono's house to play.

According to the prosecution, Diamono sent the two sisters to buy him something, leaving behind the girl.

Chief Inspector Agyare said Diamono took the girl into his room, gagged her and forcibly had sex with her and after that gave her GH¢1.00.

When the two sisters returned, they met the girl bleeding from the nose and when asked the cause, she narrated her ordeal to them. The sisters subsequently informed their grandmother, who also reported the matter to the police.
