Farmer murders step-daughter

The Bibiani Magistrate Court presided over by Mr. Osei Kofi Amoako has remanded a farmer over the alleged murder of his 13-year-old stepdaughter at Affulkrom near Bibiani.

Kwame Anane, 48, lured the girl, Akua Gyeniwaa, into the bush under the pretext of going to look for mushroom but returned later to the house without her.

People in the community became alarmed, suspected foul play, arrested and handed him over to the Police as they mounted a massive search for the girl.

She was eventually found lying naked and unconscious in a cocoa farm, taken to the Bibiani Government Hospital but died.

Anane’s plea was not taken and will re-appear on November 6.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Agbaglo told the court that the accused person had been in a love relationship with the mother of the deceased, Afua Ahoma, for some time now, a relationship that was stormy with frequent quarrels.

According to the prosecution, on October 19 Ahoma left Gyeniwaa and her two other siblings in the house and attended a funeral at Hwenampori in Bibiani.

No sooner has she gone than Anane invited the deceased to accompany him to the bush to search for mushrooms but returned later without her and could not explain why.

A search party organized by the community located her the next day.

Her body has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.
