Farmer jailed 10 years for defiling 11-year-old pupil

A Forty-year-old farmer Francis Jorden Osei Kwadwo, will spend the next 10 years behind bars after being found guilty of defiling an 11-year old pupil

The Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by Ayitey Armah-Tetteh, found the suspect guilty of the offence as charged and therefore handed him a 10-year jail term in hard labour to serve as a deterrent to others.

According to a Kofroidua-based Fm Bryte Fm report, the victim in the case is an 11-year-old primary six pupil who lives with her parents in Akim Oda in the Eastern Region with the accused.

According to the prosecutor, for some time now, the complainant noticed some changes in the behavior of the victim and suspected her having an affair with the accused person.

Chief Inspector Kingsley Antwi said on 8th September 2016, the accused person with the pretense of sending the victim on an errand, succeeded in luring her into his room and had sex with her.

On 12th September 2016, a report was lodged with the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.

Further investigations into the matter revealed this was the first time the suspect had carnal knowledge of the girl as it was uncovered he allegedly had sex with the victim in a nearby bush and was caught by a witness some time past.

In a caution statement, the accused admitted the offense and was arraigned before court but convicted on his own plea of guilty.
