Fan Airways Takes Delivery Of Another Plane

Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 23, Sept., Fan Airways Ghana, a Ghanaian-owned private airline, today took delivery of a new aircraft to enhance its domestic operations. The 3.5 million-dollar aircraft - Beechcraft 1900C airliner, with a capacity for 19 passengers, can fly at an altitude of about 30,000 feet. The all-weather aircraft is equipped with modern gadgets to make it stable and effective. Speaking to journalists after a 30 minute test flight, Professor Frank Norvor, Executive Chairman of FanAir said with the arrival of the new aircraft, Bolgatanga would be added to its routes. Currently, FanAir operates daily to Kumasi, Takoradi, Sunyani and Tamale from Accra but it is expected to extend its routes to Europe. Prof Norvor said with the improvement in the economy and with corporate bodies opening branches throughout the country, such a domestic flight would facilitate their business operations. The 1,550 kilo cargo-hold capacity aircraft was manufactured by Raycheon Company of the United States. Prof Norvor announced that the airline would take delivery of a third aircraft by November to operate on the West Coast route.
