The family of the 15-year-old boy, Daniel, abducted by his 17-year-old cousin from Koforidua in the Eastern region to Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region for alleged money rituals is not happy with police handling of the issue.
“We have been invited to the Police station twice. The Commander says they are still investigating but my family members are worried that the case is not progressing,” the 15-year-old’s mother, Madam Kukua told Starr News.
She said she is being threatened daily by the family of the suspect. “The girl’s family instead has been ridiculing and threatening to deal with me after the case dies naturally,” she said.
The suspect, Elizabeth, a 17-year- old Junior High School student of Koforidua Srodae Roman Catholic JHS accompanied by her two siblings—Philip,13 and Richmond,10, allegedly took Daniel, who is their paternal cousin to Sunyani to be used as a sacrifice by a spiritualist identified as Black Akasha for money rituals.
It is alleged that Elizabeth picked the contact of the spiritualist on a television program.
According to Daniel, on that fateful day, Elizabeth deceived him to accompany them to their mother’s House at Okorase a community near Koforidua in the evening around 10 pm noticing the absence of his parents.
But unsuspecting Daniel narrated that he was instead taken to the Accra-Tema Lorry Station in Koforidua where they slept till 4 am the next morning because there was no vehicle available.
He said at that dawn, they boarded the first vehicle to a place with signpost -“Accra” where they again boarded a Bus to Sunyani.
He said at Sunyani, they slept at Bob Guest House until the next morning when they picked another vehicle to an unknown location upon the direction of the said spiritualist.
“As we were going, I kept asking her where we were heading to and that if we are not getting there soon she should send me back to my parents but she didn’t mind me,” Daniel narrated in interaction with Starr News.
According to him, Elizabeth introduced him to the spiritualist as the sacrificial lamb for the rituals but the spiritualist rejected him citing his overbearingly strong spirit.
“He cannot be used for the sacrifice because his spirit was strong beside he is too smallish’,” he said he heard the spiritualist told his cousin.
Daniel continued that Elizabeth knelt down and begged the spiritualist to rescind his decision.
“She knelt down and held the legs of the man pleaded that he sacrifices me for the rituals because she had brought me all the way from Koforidua.
“She also brought out different colors of candles and an amount of GH¢550 for the ritual,” said Daniel in his narration.
Daniel’s parents reported him missing at the Effiduase Police Station. They also made announcements on local radio stations in Koforidua as well as on social media.
Six days later, Daniel in the company of his three cousins arrived in Koforidua but the mother of Elizabeth reportedly warned them not to disclose to anyone what transpired.
“When we returned her mother asked me not to tell anyone about what had happened and told me to state that I went to see our aunty in Accra,” Daniel recounted.
Daniel, however, confided in his parents as he could not hide his trauma. His parents were nonetheless unwilling to report his ordeal to the police until it emerged that Elizabeth allegedly stole about GH¢4,000 cash which belonged to her mother to embark on the journey with the victim.
Starr News Eastern Regional Correspondent, Kojo Ansah, after investigating the incident notified the police upon which the prime suspect Elizabeth was picked up and a statement is taken to assist police in the investigation.
She is currently on Police inquiry bail.
