Facebook news on Job Summit is false- Minister

Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Employment and Labour Relations on Wednesday debunked news making the rounds that the Ministry was planning to organize a job summit.

He said the fraud was being perpetrated by misinforming people on Facebook that a Job Summit was to be held and that interested persons were to register by paying monies through mobile money.

In a message sent to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, he said checks from the Electoral Commission indicated that the Voters’ Identity Card being used by the fraudster was non-existent and has been faked.

He therefore urged the general public to disregard the advertisement so as not to fall prey to this scam by paying monies to the alleged fraudster.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) wishes to reiterate that there is no impending Job Summit for which registration fees are being charged, nor is the Ministry collaborating with anybody or any entity to organize a Job Summit,” the statement read.

The Minister said a formal complaint about the matter had been lodged with the Ghana Police Service for necessary action.
