FRACO demands bus from NPP

Hohoe (V/R), GNA - St Francis College of Education at Hohoe is demanding the replacement of their 58-seater school bus which was involved in an accident in February 2008 from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The party asked the school to release the bus for an NPP rally at Akpa= fu. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Hohoe, Mr Dennis Agbenuvor, Principal of the College, said the absence of the bus was hindering activities of the College. He said in February 2008, Mr Peter Amewu, the then Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, wrote to the School for the release of the bus for the rally.

When the accident occurred, the party through verbal correspondence, promised to replace the bus but it went out of power after the 2008 election.

Mr Agbenuvor said the bus was now at PHC Motors in Accra which was demanding GH¢73,000 for repair works and it was not known whether the bus should be written off or where the Ministry of Education would get that amount of money from.

He said Bishop Francis Lodonu, Catholic Bishop of Ho, who was also the Chairman of the Governing Council of the College, had written to the Ministry of Education on the issue. The Principal of the College said another problem the school faced was the encroachment on additional 9.7 acres of the land it acquired in 1974 for which compensation had not been paid.
