A video has resurfaced online showing the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Church, declaring that he never received support from successive governments in Ghana despite his groundbreaking innovations in technology and agriculture.
Popularly known as “Kantanka, the African Star,” he was celebrated for his emphasis on self-reliance, often highlighting how he built his vision without state assistance.
Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo 'Kantanka' is dead
In the video sighted by GhanaWeb on Sunday, September 14, 2025, Apostle Safo was asked if he had ever received government support. He replied:
“I have many farms. I recently harvested 300 and 200 bags of plantain, and I rear livestock too. No government has ever supported me, but that has never stopped me.”

Apostle Safo passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025. His family and the Kristo Asafo Church confirmed his death in a statement issued on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
